The one thing there is no escaping when you’re pregnant is, “Everyone has an opinion”. Some right, some wrong and a lot that is steeped in superstition. So, what’s right for you? The best thing is to follow your instincts. If you’re a first time mom, this is where you may feel overwhelmed, but it’s okay. We’ve been there. So here’s a quick overview of some things to consider to make it a little easier to navigate through the first weeks of being a new mom.

“Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.”

Alan Lakein, author

The biggest issue that new moms face is being sleep deprived, so it’s best to prepare, stockpile, and prioritize. The last, being the most important thing to remember. Not everything is important and somethings can simply take a backseat to what’s pressing. That said. Here’s what we suggest:

Prepare Meals Before Your Baby Arrives

Make meals ahead of time and freeze them, so you can pull them out at a moments’ notice and heat them up. Make things that are easy and nutritious like spaghetti, casseroles, chili. Things that freeze well and are delicious. Make it fast and easy. You will not have time for elaborate meals that take hours to cook. The easiest way to prepare is to cook in double batches. Have one meal now and freeze the other. This is a great way to ensure that you’re well-stocked and ready when your baby arrives.

Stock Up On Supplies

After your baby arrives, luxuries like running to the store frequently will be a thing of the past. Getting a new baby dressed and ready with the diaper bag and all the gear is a tedious task for one or two items. The easiest way to is to stock up on the essentials like food, cleaning supplies and toiletries and save yourself the time and hassle.

Just by doing these things, you’ll be prepared and ready when time is of the essence.
